Your Weekly Glimpse Into Sioux Falls Life

Presented By: Landon Farley

Welcome back, my friend, to another issue of All Things Sioux Falls. A huge shoutout to all the wonderful friends who made it out to the murder mystery on Saturday. It was such an amazing evening.

Enjoy this issue! There's a lot happening in Sioux Falls this week, so get out, enjoy the sunshine, and explore.

New to Sioux Falls? Here is something to make it easier.

If you have moved here in the last few months, you have probably already noticed how much there is to figure out. Where to eat. Who to call. What is actually worth your time.

Landon Farley put together a short "Welcome to Sioux Falls" packet to help people get oriented faster, discover local businesses, and feel at home sooner.

It is free. It is short. And there is a chance to win a prize while you are at it.

ATSF Update: A while back, I did a survey about what sorta events the crew wanted to see. And a few things popped up. One of which was an outdoor walk that has been postponed till the end of August, early September.

I am currently working on the Wine & Wisdom night and looking for a speaker who would be interested in speaking to the crew.

Could be you? Reach out :))

Also, I am finally working on the ATSF Monopoly Board. Will update next week :))

[ The Falls Report]

THE SKY - Sunny with a high of 92 today. Hot Hot Hot all week.
SUNSET - 9:06pm tonight.
AT THE FALLS - The Levitt lineup this week: Sally Baby's Silver Dollars on Thursday, Oh He Dead on Friday, and Flat River Band on Saturday. All shows 7pm, all free, bring a blanket.
AROUND TOWN - The Power on the Prairie Sioux Falls Airshow lands Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19, featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
It's free, with static planes, simulators, exhibits, a kids' inflatable area, and food stations.
Can't wait until Saturday? Discover Aviation Day is Thursday, July 16 from 10am to 4pm at Maverick Air Center.
SPOTTED - Lots and lots of geese at the falls. I watch them every day now, I think.
CREW SPOTLIGHT - One thing Lorenzo loves and believes is overlooked here in Sioux Falls: "The chess community! Chess is life and it's fun for the whole family! It's a sport and a rich one at that!" - Lorenzo

Saturday, we had our 2nd Murder Mystery Dinner, and honestly, I am still amazed by the 21 guests who graced Minervas on Saturday.

To the wonderful lords, ladies, and Your Graces who attended: THANK YOU.

You were incredible, and I couldn't help but be enthralled by your dedication to your roles. The next murder mystery will be on the 12th of September.

Join ATSF as we host The Quinn Estate, a 1920s-themed murder mystery.

I am looking to partner with business owners for the next upcoming murder mystery. If you'd love to partner, reply to this email.

8 Hidden Gems in Sioux Falls

This week, I thought it would be interesting to shine some light on a few hidden gems around town. In no particular order or category, these are some of our favorite places that do not get much attention.

1) The Game Chest
I have said it before, and I am going to say it again. The Game Chest is absolutely a hidden gem in Sioux Falls. They offer a great community and atmosphere to play board games, relax, and connect with a group of friends.
Located at: 2115 S Minnesota Ave
2) Maxwells
If you are a kitchen gadget junkie, this place is for you. They have everything you could think of and more to go down a new rabbit hole of recipes. They have a strong sense of community, and charge food initiatives in the area.
Located at: 1212 S Cliff Ave
3)
Sweetgrass Soapery
Almost everything in this store is handmade and handcrafted. All of the soaps are free from synthetic fragrances and dyes, making these body care products, one of a kind. The Brick-and-Mortar shop closed the 1st of this year, but you can find their products online, or at farmers markets around town!
4) Pickers Antique Mall
If you love to search for some unique gems, this is the place for you. Picker's is huge and super organized. It is not one of those places you walk in and see junk priced at $30. Quality items, with reasonable prices.
Located at: 47065 271st St, Sioux Falls
5)
Mint and Basil
Chic and trendy women's clothing, and home items that are almost too beautiful to use. They also carry books, dips for your next get together, and super unique candles.
Located at: 207 S Phillips Ave
6)
Total Drag
This is a super cool hangout in Sioux Falls, especially if you are into vinyl records and old-school tapes. This place also doubles as an event space for live music, and they host bands frequently. In fact, this Friday they host two bands!
Located at: 307 E 12th St
7)
Rainbow Midwest
You may know Rainbow as a distributor for outdoor play equipment, but did you know that inside they have a playground set up for use daily? If it is too hot outside, or you want to get out of the house in those winter months, take the kids inside Rainbow for just $10. Kids 1 and under are free.
Located at: 2801 S Carolyn Ave
8)
1st Cash Pawn Shop
This is not a new gem. In fact 1st Pawn has been in Sioux Falls since 2000, but their inventory is always changing, and they have some great deals. If you are in the mood to browse or find specific items like guitars for a low price, check this stop out.
Located at: 2123 E 10th St

Hartford Farmer's Market: Our favorite market is just around the corner, and it is featuring so many new surprises!

On July 30th, from 5-8pm, you can take free train rides around Hartford, browse over 40 handmade and homegrown vendors, and chow down on some great food from food trucks like Las Mexicanas, Skipping Stones Pizza, and Creekside Meats!

Did I mention free live music? Keturah Wollman will be performing hit songs, so grab a seat and enjoy the life of a small town.

Custom Made by Camille: Camille is a local mom with an incredible talent. Have you seen those trendy hand-painted banners all over your feed?

Yep, she makes those! Camille creates custom fabric, paper, and weatherproof vinyl banners for every occasion. From weddings, baby showers, birthdays, bridal showers, and graduations to grand openings, markets, and everything in between, she’ll create something beautiful that makes your celebration feel even more special.

Every design is hand-created by Camille herself, so you’re getting an original piece you won’t find anywhere else online.

The Doggy Den Suites: Leaving your pet can be one of the hardest things about traveling for work, or for pleasure. Leaving them with family and friends can feel like a burden, especially for long periods of time.

Traditional boarding feels like punishment with concrete floors. I want to introduce you to, Doggy Den Suites. This is not your traditional boarding, it is elevated. Short or long stays, your pet is enriched with play, comfort, and luxury sleeping arrangements.

ATSF Flavor Guide: If you are new here or have been here for a while and you are still looking for new restaurants, look no further. We created the ultimate flavor guide for you.
