Coffee Crawl, Flowers at the Coop and lots of events for you

All Things Sioux Falls

New Issue Released Every Tuesday

Good Morning Sioux Falls Crew,

After high heat index and bad air quality, high winds and large rains, I hope everyone is surviving and thriving through their day. Thank you all for your engagement in last weeks' issue! We enjoyed the conversations and appreciate your feedback.

In this week's issue, we hope to heat things up, and maybe even take your breath away, but in a good way, unlike the weather.

But first, do you have a pet that you are sup-purrr proud of? We cannot wait to join you in your furry-friend obsession! Send us a picture of your pet here to get them highlighted as Sioux Falls', "Pet Of The Week".

In today’s exposé:

  • Self-Pick Bouquet making events
  • Live Entertainment
  • Local Fundraising Opportunities

Alrighty then, let's get to it!

Lights, Camera, Restoration: The State Theatre Then & Now

Almost a century ago, The Sioux Falls State Theatre had its opening night, appealing to the allure of silent films, it was no surprise they chose to open with a showing of the silent film titled, "Behind The Front".

Since then, the theatre walls have seen many changes. The State Theatre closed on June 21, 1990 and actually sat vacant until The Sioux Falls Theatre Company, a non-profit organization bought the theatre in 2005, dedicated to restoring the theatre to its previous glory.

However, I must emphasize that dedication was steadfast through almost 15 long years of planning, fundraising, outreaching. I'm talking blood, sweat, and tears to get to the fun part,

Seeing it all come back to life.

And that brings us to present day, The State Theatre is open to the public and has regular showings of classic films, you know the good stuff.

Although the theatre is open, there is still a lot of restoration to take place before the theatre is fully reborn. As Dolly Parton says, "It costs a lot to look this classic." and that it does. Areas like the Mezzanine, Balcony, and Stage are where current fundraising and donations are focused.

Sioux Falls is full of historical jewels and architectural framework that could never be replaced by modern design, and that has me curious

If You Could Restore Another Local Spot Here In Sioux Falls, What Would It Be? I'll await your answer here.

THE COZY CORNER

"Greta- She loves her ball!!."
PET OF THE WEEK - GRETA

We want to see your pets! Submit your animals' picture here.

You live on a corner lot, with lots of land to run and play, but your kids are a little older. You would enjoy some company on your way to the mailbox in the morning to watch the birds as they flutter around, and I have found your perfect companion. Meet Hunter, the mighty Australian Kelpie that defied the odds by overcoming a horrible illness and is ready for his furever home.

Buying a house is a lot of commitment, and jumping through all of the "home-buying hoops" such as credit checks, loan approvals, appraisals, inspections... did I lose you yet? Exactly. If renting is up your alley, this 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house is right on your block!

Are you ready to show off your swing for a great cause? The Annual Sioux Falls Pink Ladies Golf Tournament happens this weekend. And hey, even the Happy Gilmore Golfers are welcome! All proceeds stay right here in Sioux Falls, and help local families that are battling cancer.
