Good morning, Sioux Falls Crew!
Month three began on Sunday, which means we are one step closer to some warm weather. I hope you've had a great start to '26. Even though it is early, I can tell it is going to be a great year for us all... can't you?
This week is a little quieter on the events front, but we have still found a ton of really fun excuses for you to get out of the house, avoid cleaning, and meet some new people! We look forward to seeing you out there in the city.

The idea of creating a shirt, a hat, or something special for our crew members has been on my mind for a while now, but life got busy. I have also been working on the directory, which is live right now!
I would love to connect with local artists and possibly even create a competition around it. I would like a new logo created by an artist, as well as a design for merch. If you are a local artist, reply to this email. If you know a local artist, share this with them and see if they would be interested.
I went to work on the Directory as soon as I announced it weeks ago, based on the initiative "Keep Sioux Falls Flowing." Well, friends, the directory is live! You can view it, submit your business, and share it with friends.
Check it out, and if you have any feedback, please reach out and share your thoughts with me.
In 9 days, we will have our 3rd Dinner Club, and here is your invitation.
You are a part of our crew and we would love to have you join us. If you are looking to make new friends, show up and let's have great conversations together. Right now, we have 52 seats booked and would love for you to be one of them.
ATSF EVENTS?
A while back, I received some great feedback that I've been ruminating on. Organizing events for the crew is something that has stayed on my mind, and hearing it again from one of you brought it back to the surface.
The first idea that came to mind was a Pickleball Tournament (it's fun to play) but a little research opened up a whole world of possibilities: Nature Walks, Yoga in the Park, Day Trips to Historical Sites, a Book Club, Wine Tasting Experiences, Cooking Workshops, and Art Classes.
I originally meant for this to be a poll, but for this week I'd love to simply hear from you. What other events would you love to see organized? What would you actually show up for?

The Rise of Cottage Bakeries in Sioux Falls:
There’s a quiet dessert renaissance unfolding across Sioux Falls. It doesn’t come with neon storefronts or long bakery display cases. Instead, it arrives in porch pickup boxes, farmers markets, and Instagram preorder drops that sell out before your morning coffee cools.
What is a Cottage Bakery you may ask?
These home-based baking businesses operate under South Dakota’s cottage food laws, allowing passionate bakers to create and sell certain shelf-stable treats straight from their own kitchens. What started as a side hustle for many has grown into a thriving business.
I have curated a list of 10 Cottage Bakeries, located right here in the Sioux Falls Area that serve everything from artisan breads and celebration cakes to comforting classics and trendy treats.
The best part? Many offer rotating menus and limited drops, so there’s always something new to discover.
1- GG's Crumb & Crust
Opened in January of this year, GG's Crumb & Crust is a porch stand featuring handmade sourdough items. Here is how it works
- Pull up to 4509 S Tribbey Tr, Sioux Falls, SD
- Choose your desired items from the stand and pay with Cash or Venmo.
- Follow for weekly drops!
2- Meikamp Brothers Bakery & Co.
Owned and operated by a local mom of three boys, Meikamp Micro Bakery opened in March of 2025 with a small idea, and the simple love of pastries.
You can order online for pick up; they also have bake stand that runs on the weekends located North of I90 on Slip Up Creek Rd
3- Kahler's Cakes
Marci opened Kahler's Cakes in 2019 and has attended hundreds of Farmer's Markets and Pop-Up Events since then. Catch her around town with her booth or contact her via email to order.

4- Bourne Family Bakery
This is a family-run micro bakery located on the east side of Sioux Falls, that bakes sourdough the slow way. Here's how ordering works:
- Order through the website with 1+ day(s) in advance
- Your payment is required upfront upon ordering
- Pick up on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday within your timeslot
5- Lin's Loaf
Opened in November of 2024, Linaa has created a home bakery that gives back, with a free bread included in orders $55+
6- Sugar High Desserts
Laura opened Sugar High in 2023, and focuses mainly on Cheesecakes, now these are not your typical cheesecakes, you must multiply the average store-bought cheesecake by 10, and then you are coming close to the quality of Laura's!
7- Amber's Bakery
Amber is located in Salem, a short jog from Sioux Falls, but when you order $30 or more, you get free shipping! Specializing in sourdough items and organic essential oil blends
8- Cakes and Bakes by GG
Opened in late 2024, Gretchen is a jack of all trades - a travel agent by day, and a master baker by night. She excels in the fine details of cake decorating.
9- Mo's Porch Bakery
Mo's offers sourdough bread, but their newest offer is party trays full of your favorite goodies, cookie cakes, and jar treats. Mo's comes highly rated from other locals.
10- Chef Ellen Doerr Cheesecakes
Ellen used to have a catering business in Sioux Falls, and while she no longer does catering, she offers something you wont find anywhere else: Basque Cheesecake. What is it? Basque burnt cheesecakes were created sometime in the 80's or early 90's and they are characterized by being crustless, cooked at a higher temp, resulting in a creme-brulee caramelized exterior, but with the creamy-soft interior cheesecake is known for
