Shrek Rave, free plants, and 2 tickets to give away

Your Weekly Glimpse Into Sioux Falls Life

Presented by: Cliff Avenue Greenhouse

My initial thoughts to start out this issue were "I can officially say it's spring without anyone cussing me out" haha. But then I looked at the weather app to see that we have some chance of snow in a few days lol, so disregard. Hope you had a great weekend though, and your Monday wasn't too rough. Grab your coffee mug and let's dive into the 63rd issue of ATSF.

Dinner club was sold out, but a few people messaged that they won't be able to make it, so we have 2 spots open if you are interested. If you weren't able to make this month's dinner, no worries! There is always next month, again, join the waitlist to stay up to date!

Last week, I shared that Screams by Night is coming to Sioux Falls. Well, my friends, we have 2 tickets to give away to the show. If you're a horror fan, all you have to do to enter is reply to this email with your favorite horror film or series along with your first and last name. I'll go through the emails and put all submissions in a drawing! (yes, the old-fashioned hat pull)

Once again, thanks for being part of this crew. I appreciate you LOTS, so virtual hugs from me :)) Alrighty then, let's move on.

Cliff Avenue Greenhouse

If there's a place to visit this spring, it's Cliff Avenue Greenhouse. Not only is it a store filled with everything you need from pots to seeds and planters to nursery stock, there's also a boutique inside the store filled with outfits that could be your next staple item.

I stopped by last Tuesday, hours after releasing issue 62, and had such a wonderful time with Sara Jane and Jamie.

We recorded some videos, had lots of laughs, and I learned more about the Annual Garden Party that is happening on the 23rd of April. Check out what they had to say about the garden party by clicking any of the buttons below :))

What's waiting for you at the Annual Garden Party:

🌸Special discounts on gourmet food, Strawberry, Rhubarb, Herbs, Pansies, Onions, and Asparagus plants, Sol Soils, and succulents. One evening only.

🌸Giveaways every 30 minutes. Stay a while. You might just leave with more than you came for.

🌸Refreshments and gourmet food samples all night long, because an empty glass and an empty stomach are not on the guest list.

🌸Sip while you shop. Honestly, the only way to do it.

And it's completely free to attend. Cliff Avenue Greenhouse will see you there.

THIS WEEK'S FIND 🔍

Do you own a business? Do you love to get crafty? Maybe you have a skill you really excel at.

I have a great opportunity for you to connect with the community and show off your small business!

The Hartford Farmers Market is approaching, and they are still accepting vendors!
Why the Hartford Market? Well, this farmers market was founded in 2019 as part of a shared vision to bring energy, connection, and new life back into the small town of Hartford.

This market has grown into a community of hundreds of local vendors, makers, growers, and supporters, including youth booths! You'll also find rotating food trucks, mobile coffee bars, live music, and activities for the kids and the whole family.

Sound interesting? I hope so!

The market runs on the 3rd Thursday of every month starting on May 28th and ending on September 24th. Sign up for a vendor spot and show the community what you've been cookin' up!

Want to share your business with the Sioux Falls Crew members? Grab a poster by hitting the big red button below.

Blue Sky Veg: That tomato you bought last week? Picked months ago. Shipped hundreds of miles. Gassed to fake ripeness.

Every week, real farmers grow, harvest, and pack your choice of fresh veggies grown just outside of Sioux Falls. You choose exactly what goes in your box. No mystery. No waste. Dakota Fizz: This mobile Dirty Soda Trailer is making waves in local communities with unique, one-of-a-kind drinks that leave you wanting more. Recently, I found that they offer "DIY Kits" for your upcoming party or nights in with the kids. The box comes with everything needed to make a soda with your special twist.

Your Guide for Thrifting in Sioux Falls:

With Emma

This past weekend I did some thrifting around town for the Annual Thrift Crawl. I found some great deals, and met some really amazing business owners that I want to share with you!

  1. 605 Thrift
    1. Kiara has curated the cutest shop with two adorable kittens at the helm. There is a really great selection of just about anything, without it being too overwhelming. This past weekend she ran a "Fill a bag for $15" on clothes, and let me tell you, I stocked up! Everything was reasonably priced, what you would expect from a thrift store!
  2. 605 Antiques
    1. This is a massive store with close to 200 vendor booths. If you have some time, it is definitely worth the look. This store frequently has pop up events and will have sale racks outside on nice days!
  3. The Green Penny
    1. Aftyn has a vision when it comes to choosing items to sell in her store. Although it is a smaller shop, The Green Penny has some of the most unique pieces, and a great selection of leather jackets.
  4. Fig & Fir
    1. The new kid on the block has a great selection of knickknacks and decor items to bring any room new life.
  5. Second Helpings
    1. I've mentioned Second Helpings before, and this is a great shop. Amazing prices (All items $10 or less), and for the women who are sick of not being able to find clothes in their size, Second Helpings is a lifesaver.
  6. Bella Boo Threads
    1. If you love the Boho Style, there is a super cool shop on West 42nd that has a curated selection for all you hippies out there. We are talking beaded curtains, parachute pants, and pops of color!
  7. Urban Threads
    1. This is a clothing consignment shop here in Sioux Falls on Lake Lorraine. Currant styles are very modern and chic. They also carry accessories like purses and shoes!
  8. Gift and Thrift
    1. This store is much bigger on the inside than it seems on the outside. You could truly spend a whole day in here. There is a great balance between vintage and antique items, and modern, crafty items. This store has a surprising amount of furniture finds.
  9. St. Vincent De Paul Society
    1. Large thrift stores have really started to raise prices of secondhand items, but not St. Vincent. There are two locations in Sioux Falls, and all profits go towards local families in need. Reasonable prices, and a ton of space.

Sioux Falls Thrift Crawl is already planning another for this Summer, so stay tunned all of you thrifties out there!

This organization has a mission to ensure no kid sleeps on the floor in our town. If you are looking for a way to give back, consider helping measure, cut, and prep wood to build bunk beds for local families.
