Anytime a community comes together to support the next generation, it's something special, and the Children's Business Fair is one of the most exciting local opportunities for young entrepreneurs to gain real-world experience here in Sioux Falls.
Kids ages 6 to 17 develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy, and then open their doors to customers at a one-day marketplace. It's not just a fun afternoon; it's a full entrepreneurial journey packed into a single day.
Hosted by Aaron Johnson at Acton Academy, the event is rooted in the belief that entrepreneurs are role models for the next generation. Whether it's a well-known name like Elon Musk or Oprah Winfrey, or one of the thousands of unsung business owners here in Sioux Falls, these are the people who make sacrifices to innovate, create jobs, and serve their communities. The Children's Business Fair exists to plant that same spark in the next generation.
What started in 2023 with just 25 booths at Central Church has grown into one of the most anticipated community events of the summer. Local entrepreneurs serve as judges, evaluating each young business owner on their presentation, creativity, and business potential. At the end of the day, a winner is selected and can receive up to a $500 cash prize, real stakes for real effort.
This year's 6th Annual Acton Children's Business Fair in Sioux Falls will feature 56+ booths and takes place on Thursday, June 25th, 2026 from 4:00β6:30 PM. A location has not yet been announced, so stay tuned for updates as the date approaches. If last year's event at Startup Sioux Falls is any indication, it's sure to be a lively downtown celebration worth marking on your calendar.
Volunteers are always welcome to help ensure the day runs smoothly for both the young entrepreneurs and their guests. If you're interested in getting involved, reach out to Acton Academy for more information and arrive ready to be impressed by what Sioux Falls kids can do.
