β
Good Morning Sioux Falls Crew,
Can you believe weβre already knocking on the door of February?
β
If your New Yearβs resolutions are still intact, gold star for you.
β
Today is National Chocolate Cake Day, and that feels like an acceptable reason to stray from your routine.
β
I suggest stopping by Oh My Cupcakes and treating yourself to a bit of heaven. I know I will, because today also happens to be a pretty big deal around here.
Happy first birthday to All Things Sioux Falls! What started as a simple idea has turned into a really fun journey of rediscovering Sioux Falls through a fresh lens.
β
Godwin and I are so grateful for everyone who has replied to emails, voted in polls, showed up to dinner clubs, and generally made this world feel like a community.
Thanks for letting us hang out in your inbox and grow alongside you.
And because I canβt resist a good random fact to kick off the day. On this date in 1984, Michael Jacksonβs hair famously caught fire while filming a commercial. Proof that even legends have off days, and that maybe we should all approach today with a little grace and a lot of chocolate cake. π«
Now, let's dive into this issue.

Hiya friends,
β
Another week, another Tale.
β
Burr... This kind of cold makes an otter think twice before heading outside, so this week, instead of freezing my paws off exploring, I thought Iβd share a story with you.
This is the story of how I ended up in Sioux Falls.
Much like some of you, I had never set my eyes on Sioux Falls. I was floating along the river one day, letting the water decide where Iβd go next. I followed the current, and what would you know?
It led me here.
The Falls felt like a good place to stop. The water had a different sound, the kind that makes you pause and listen. So, I did.
And since then, the rest is history.
Sure, there have been a few quirks, like learning to share the river with traffic and discovering just how cold winter can feel on an otterβs paws. But every place has its splashes and ripples.
Every week, I push my paws as far as theyβll take me, trying new food, visiting new places, and exploring all that Sioux Falls has to offer. Just this past week, I visited the Cinemark Theatre, and let me tell you, that popcorn is nuts (in the best way possible).
Thanks for following along and riding this current with me. Any ideas on where an otter should wander next?

Exploring Sioux Falls doesn't have to be expensive. Here are a few ideas to help you, and your family get out this week without breaking the budget and without freezing.
Balling on a Budget
(Winter Edition):
β
Arcades may not be the first thing that come to your mind when discussing affordable activities, but Rainbow Arcade here in Sioux Falls has game play for .25 a game! That's right, bring the whole family for some day fun of arcade play, and spend less than $10.00!
A museum experience may not be everyone's cup of tea, but with interactive exhibits and rich Sioux Falls history, these stops are engaging for all ages! Cost of admission is free!
3- Local Art Studios
If you are artsy, or are planning a day out with the kids, try a local art studio! These art studios frequently have crafts for $10.00 or less!
3- Mix Fun & Multitasking
There are a ton of businesses in Sioux Falls that offer a party with a side of, "getting your to-do list done!" A few of my favorites are:
- βScheels (perfect for the kids with Farris wheel rides starting at $1, they also have arcade games.)
- βThe Mall (has play spaces for younger kids, and this is a perfect break time in between shops) Free
- βStones Coffee and Play is the perfect blend between relaxing with a cup of coffee, and seeing your child thrive while playing on an indoor playground. Child admission is $10.00!
- βLibraries are completely free and have a ton of fun things to enjoy! Computer access and video games, puzzles and activity bins, books and audio books, and play spaces.

This is a great place to break the ice on a first date, take the kids out for a night of fun, or forget the stress of everyday life on your anniversary! Interactive movies, laser tag, bowling, and an arcade are sure to bring the fun, at a good price! Single game play less than $10 (though, if you get the package, you save more in the long run)
The cold weather makes it hard to ensure your furry friend is getting enough exercise. This indoor, tropical themed water park is designed specifically for your dog's enrichment and is fun for all! What better way to meet friends than bonding over the things you love most, enjoying some snacks, and drinks! βFree for Humans; $15 per dog
6- Gaming Centers
I am going to call these hidden gems, because I did not know about them before doing some research. The Dragon's Den is a large gaming store that carries hundreds of board games, virtual games, and cosplay opportunities. Lots of options for $10.00 and under!
βThe Game Chest- is the ultimate gaming stop, with whole rooms that you can rent out to focus on your craft or connect with other people playing the same game! Reasonable pricing!
7- Get Active
Fitness classes priced at $10 and under are common on weekdays at most gyms, some are even offering free trails to test the waters, here are a few:
βMidco Aquatic Center has indoor swimming for just $5, they also host water fitness classes and obstacle courses for kids.
βActive Generations is a great resource for getting your mind, and body moving. Every week, there is events almost daily, with monthly memberships for only $10 you enjoy everything from book clubs to fitness classes, wood carving and pickleball.

I hope a few of these ideas keep you sane this winter, and encourage you to step out of your bubble, explore new places, and meet new people. Now... who is that cutie over there? Let's check out the Pet Of The Week!
