Santa Never Sleeps, and Neither are These Businesses!

We have curated a list of businesses in the area that are open on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day, so even if you do not have somewhere to be, you are not alone. (Or maybe you just want someone else to do the dishes, and in that case, Cheers!)

THE BULLETIN

Want to share your business, projects with the Sioux Falls Crew?

La Luna Cafe: The kids want a proper weekend breakfast...but let's face it, the clean up afterwards takes you all morning. Pack up the family, and head to La Luna for unforgettable Apple Pie Waffle paired with a hot chocolate to keep you warm.

Songbird Kombucha: Kombucha is what happens when tea joins a band. You brew sweet tea, invite a SCOBY to the jam session, and fermentation lays down the bassline. Kombucha can carry probiotics, acids, and antioxidants that help digestion. It’s not a miracle cure, but it is tea that’s good at processing its emotions and yours.

Remedy Brewing Co: It all started in 2013 with an ice storm, a power outage, and two friends on a couch. When Matt Hastad’s house went dark, he took refuge at Jason Davenport’s place, paying his way with home-cooked meals and lessons from a homebrewing hobby he’d picked up in college. Between batches, conversations, and a few experimental misfires, the pair realized Sioux Falls was ready for a standout brewery.

Hiya Friends,

Man, I didn't want to brave the cold. The wind was whipping my tail in all sorts of directions, but the glowing lights from the Orpheum Theater were calling my name.
Inside, the theatre was packed from wall to wall with locals big and small, filling the air with warmth and anticipation. I scurried over to the box office and did my best to look composed.

"One Ticket under the name Tidal please ma'am" A kind lady by the name of Andrea handed me my ticket, and I slipped it into my hat for easy access later. I told myself I would resist the iconic pairing of snack and show. I truly did, but temptation won and I took my place in line to grab some popcorn and peanut m&ms. mmmmmm my favorite.

A kind man by the name of Michael was looking very dapper in a suit, while scanning tickets. "Are you watching the show alone?" Michael asked me. β€œWell yes indeed, Michael,” I replied. β€œI prefer the chance to be thoroughly enthralled without having to share my popcorn. Hehe.” Michael gave a chuckle and a smile and handed me back my ticket.

And then dear friends, I walked into the theatre. Boy oh boy, you should have seen it. The renovation of the theatre is splendid, the velvet red coverings, and the artwork throughout was a show of its own. The whole theatre was lit with candles, down the aisle- on the banisters, and in total over 2000 candles on stage.

I took my seat in the third row, and what do you know, I was sitting right behind the famous Corey, from Corey and the Fireflies! WHAT A MOMENT. I thought about introducing myself, but I did not want to make a scene, i mean.. a little otter approaching a start like that? NO WAY.

Soon after the lights started to dim, and out comes Santa Clause! right down the aisle, can you believe that? SANTA! And just when I thought this could not get any more exciting, then the show really started, Michael Mayer took the stage.

I am not sure I can quite explain the way my foot started to tap, and my body started to sway, my soul seemed to do a dance, and it was hard to look away. The way his hands were moving on the keys, first slow and then fast - how can such chaotic movements create such a precise, and gentle sound? I thought I was going for a piano show, but no friends, this was something much more.

In between songs, Michael revealed he is a comedian at heart, I am sure of it. He knocked my socks off! (if I wore socks) There were times the whole theatre was in oooos and ahhhhs, there were times we were all singing in harmony together, and there were times we were on our feet,

clapping and cheering on the great talent and heart of Michael.

Oh, what a night. what a great, great night. Afterwards, I got my picture taken outside the theatre! (See my proof here) This has quite possibly been my best adventure yet; I can't wait to see what is next!

Till next time,
Tidal
