Alrighty then, let's get into Tidal's Tale

Hiya friends!

Boy, do I have a story to tell you this week!

There I was, taking a morning waddle down South Remington Place. I was minding my own business, really getting into the groove when OW! Something sharp jabbed right into my paw!

I looked down and there it was, little piece of broken glass had wedged itself right between my paw pads. "Oh gee, oh gee, oh gee!" I tried to shake it out, but every time I put weight on it, it felt like lightning was shooting up my leg!

Now, I've never been to a doctor before, friends. Never needed to! But this time... well, this time I knew I needed help. Luckily, there was one close. The thought of walking into a place full of dogs, and cats made my whiskers tremble.
I hobbled up to the door of Heather Ridge Pet Hospital, took a deep breath, and pushed my way inside.

BARK! BARK! WOOF! A German Shepherd in the waiting area immediately started hollering profanities at me, I won't repeat what he said, but let's just say it wasn't friendly, and don't get me started on the cats. They gave me these looks of absolute disgust, like I'd just crashed their fancy tea party.

My heart was pounding so hard I thought everyone could hear it. I almost turned right around and hobbled back out, but then friends, then something wonderful happened.

Dr. Angela Anderson came out from the back, and when she smiled at me, it was like sunshine breaking through storm clouds, she just had this gentle, kind way about her that immediately put me at ease.

"Come on back, little one," she said softly. "Let's take a look at that paw."

She led me into a private exam room, and boy, what a relief! The room was clean and calm, with everything organized just so.

Dr. Anderson knelt down to my level, "Okay Tidal, I'm just going to look at your paw now. You might feel a little pressure, but I'll be as gentle as I can." She treated me as she would her own pet.

"You're a brave otter," she told me with that warm smile. "Come back in a week so we can check on how you're healing."

Walking out of that room (well, limping out, but much better than before!), I realized I'd overcome something I was really scared of. And you know what? That German Shepherd didn't seem quite so scary anymore. I even gave him a little wave with my good paw. He just huffed and looked away, some folks never learn manners, I suppose!

So, there you have it, friends, the tale of how I faced my fears, met wonderful people and learned that sometimes the help we need is closer than we think.

P.S. - You can reach Heather Ridge Pet Hospital at (605) 371-1600. They're open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to noon. Tell them Tidal sent you, though between you and me, I'm not sure that German Shepherd would give me a good reference!
